Meeeeemories...
I ran across this video today on 'Dead On' - another one of those blogs that I tune in to because there might be something worth reading if I've got a minute.
This song brings me back to dating XM my first few years of college. Ah... the memories.
So hit play. And enjoy reliving the memories with me. :)
Let's not forget the French Phrase of the Day, shall we?
J'aime cette chanson!
I love this song!

One reason I'm happy about being single
My little sister is going to be in my hometown's little miss pageant this weekend. She's a part of the 5-6 yr old girls even though she'll be 7 next month. She's SO excited, and because of that, I'm excited for her.
For the past few weeks, we've been dress shopping, done a mock hair and make-up session, and the whole nine. Tonight was a rehersal where former "queens" showed the little ones how to do the walk and where to stand, etc.
My mom and I sat with my sister in the auditorium until it was her turn. There were several people there that graduated with or around me.
They all have kids. IN the pageant. (And I didn't graduate too long ago.)
[Conversation heard from a row back]
Guy I graduated with: Yah, ya know... marriage is really tough. Things change. It's really weird. You, are you married?
Girl I graduated with: Nope! Not married. .... But I was!
Guy: Oh really?
Girl: Yah. I got married in the middle of 06 and then divorced at the end of 07.
Guy: Well, what happened? Cheater?
Girl: Nah, he just spent WAY too much of my money and changed the person he was.
WOAH. These people are only 24 years old and both have them have already been divorced once? One of them has step-kids and kids of their own?
I am SO glad I didn't go down that path. This is DEFINITELY one reason I'm happy about being single.
And... let's not forget... the French Phrase of the day...
C'est un cadeau
It's a gift!
[UPDATE: My little sister ended up WINNING the pageant!!! :) Hooray!!]

Success story at its finest
This past weekend, my 3rd company meeting planning experience became another success story. I always get the "friday night activity" to plan on my own - which is always the most fun (and I get the most freedom with money, too).
I am a humble person when it comes to taking compliments from a job well done (because I didn't single-handedly create the whole meeting, as some people make it out to be), so I usually say thank you and move on. I'm sure next week will be full of these compliments. I'll make sure I take them with everything I've done and smile because I have completed a job well done.
With that said, I did a great job pulling together such a grandiose [if that's even a word] all-hands meeting and Friday night event. Our theme was Dr. Seuss' 'Oh the places you'll go' and it was SO much fun. :)
I feel accomplished!
Something I'm going to start doing... a phrase of the day. Hopefully, i'll be able to update every day, but if not, at least every post.
Quelle belle journée!

10 Things I notice about my roommate
1. He washes the clothes from his body every day. Well, let me explain. At the end of the day, he throws his towel, shirt, boxers, socks, pants, in the wash... all together. He has other clothes, so that's not the issue. I really don't know what it is. But he puts those five items in and turns the setting to "extra large". To put this into perspective for you, I wash my king sheets (pillow cases and all) on the "large" setting. Yep. Water and energy waster.
2. He constantly watches tv. Doesn't do anything but work and watch tv (well, he just started school again, but still). There are times that I like peace and quiet. He says he's not actually 'watching'... it's just background noise.
3. He's gotten better about putting the dishes away, etc. but he's still not where he needs to be. (hello! Dishwasher almost TOUCHES the sink it's so close)
4. I'm still bitter about him almost burning down the house trying to make some macaroni. He scorched the pan and I ended up throwing it away because of the caked on char. [and who ended up replacing the pan? yep... you guessed it, me!]
5. Last night Sam and I were on our way out to dinner. He came in and asked "Where are you going?" I replied "dinner." He replied, "Well, where are you going?" I replied, "ummm we're going out to dinner and then probably out :)" hahahaha... loser!
6. He constantly gets stood up. He talks of 'dates' every weekend but only has gone on 2 or 3 in the last 6 months.
7. He wants a "4 door gold colored camry" hahahahaha.... for a single guy? I told him if he got it, I'd laugh at him.
8. He steps out of the shower and onto the bath mat before he's dry. [which makes it fun when I walk in there after he's done with socks on...]
9. His room smells weird. Not bad, just weird.
10. I think he's ummm... yah. That ;) [and i'm not the only one who thinks that]
So.. from reading this, you probably think I hate my roommate. I don't. I just think he's pretty annoying sometimes. Given my past with horrible roommates, he's pretty good on the scale. He comes in quiet, usually stays out of my business, and cleans up after himself for the most part. Oh, and he pays the bills on time.
I've just found him super annoying for the past two weeks or so and thought it was about time to write a 10 things about him! haha.

Ugh... dieting is necessary
There's nothing better than scanning through company photos on a crazy workday looking for pictures for a project I'm working on... and stumbling on some pictures taken of me last year.
I am absolutely, extremely embarrassed by the way I looked in those photos. The sad thing, I weigh more now than I did then.
So... I weigh 159 today. I would like to weigh 140. 19 lb's... you think I can do it? I think so!
19 lb's lighter. Ooodles happier. This should be fun.

Flushed
Today has been extremely long. I had to take Carrie to the airport this morning so she could go visit her husband in Hawaii (they're moving there. Jealous. I know.) from here. She was visiting me this weekend (yes, we had a splendid time).
So, this afternoon, face buried in the computer all day, my face started turning red. It was really for no apparent reason at all. I suppose I was anxious about getting it all done today (which, I'm still at work and it's 7:30. I arrived at 8:15 this morning).
And this blog post is so exemplary of my mindset right now. Scattered, not at all put together.
There are several birthdays this week... a kid I used to babysit. An old best friend. A guy I dated once. My old boss. I need to get some cards on the way home.
Ok, enough of the rambling. You might actually get something intelligent out of me at another time. Haha. Not now!

Some days...
The day started with me being 10 minutes late to a meeting... and getting a boot on my car during lunch.
At least it'll end better!
At least it'll end better!

10 Things I found irritating this week
1. I started. Yep. You know what.
2. Monday morning began with an argument with Sam. (and lasted until Tuesday night)
3. Which was compounded by an email from Trent. (not a good thing)
4. Which was THEN compounded by a message from Noble. (another not-so-good thing)
5. A certain co-worker who asked for help but didn't want the feedback.
6. Stressssssss with work and this humongous company meeting coming up next week.
7. I was supposed to be done babysitting around 8:30/9... it's now 10 and I'm still here. Oh well. More $$ for my pocket!
8. Did I mention stress at work?
9. There are certain decisions I'm on hold about.
10. Ok, so maybe there were only 9. :) That's a good thing!

Lyrics that offer some sort of hope...
Don't Let It Break Your Heart
By The Devlins
Autumn leaves falling like memories stalling in your head
This pain you're feeling, your way of dealing with the past
It's complicated, he lead you on and then he let you down
Don't let it break your heart
Don't let it break your heart
Don't let it tear you apart, just bruises and scars they heal
Some of these guys they wanna paint a target on your head
Love you all up and leave you dying left for dead
But then somebody will play the right song and you'll dance again
So Don't let it break your heart
Don't let it break your heart
Don't let tear you apart, just bruises and scars they heal
Don't let it break your heart
And the computer adds up the numbers and it says
If you're so lonely why don't you find somebody else
Not complicated, it's kind of simple it's just one on one
Don't let it break your heart
Don't let it break your heart
Don't let tear you apart, just bruises and scars they heal
So Don't let it break your heart
Don't let it break your heart
Don't let it break your heart

Oh, it most certainly happens in real life...

A few mornings ago, I splurged (on my "diet", that is) and went for a bagel at Einstein's on 14th street. A rare place for me to be on a working morning, but that's not the subject at hand ;)
Apparently, the night before it had rained a little so there were a few puddles around. In the farthest right hand lane, I was passing a few other cars to catch the light when I slammed through a puddle.
It wouldn't have been all that bad if there weren't three ladies walking to the train station on their way to work... on my account all three became soaking wet.
Yah... I thought that kind of thing only happened in movies. Oh, it most certainly happens in real life. And I felt terrible. What was even worse, I got stopped at the light and it felt like everyone was looking at me. I'm not quite sure I could have done anything at that point anyway.
I felt so bad. And while the picture isn't exactly of my little incident... it does represent what happened extremely well :)

Taking the STO- out of Storage
Today, I picked the 7 yr. old up from school. As we were passing by buildings they'd recently torn down in our upscale "neighborhood" [I use the term loosly, because it's more of a metropolis than a neighborhood], she mentioned they tore down the "rage" building.
Hmm. The rage building?
I asked her what exactly she meant and she proceeded to tell me, "Well, it used to be the storage building but the S and the T and the O fell off, so it's the Rage building."
I laughed so hard I had to cover my mouth. It was histerical.. until I heard...
"Ms. America, you laugh like Santa Claus when you cover your mouth like that."
Oh. Right. Mental note: never do that on a first date. On second thought, ever again.

Reviews of a new city. Part 1: Orlando
Ah, yes. The new year brings even more travels for me than last year. I thought i'd be able to chill out and not travel so much in 2008 (14 new places last year alone) but it doesn't seem the case.
Right now, I'm in Orlando. A nice, warm city, by the way. It was cold when I got here but yesterday and today was great. I went out to a few places, had drinks at a few places, saw a lot of the attractions and even was able to ride some rides at Universal Studios.
As for the people, they're cool. Just about as cool as those in my city. The weather's warm. But there's literally no "city"... it's all suburbia and the place they call their nightlife is in a mall. Hmm.
Weather: 8
Sites/Stuff to do: 7
