Definitely, Maybe

I watched it. It wasn't at all what I thought it would be. Not one bit. As I sat down with my dinner I thought, "sweet! Romantic comedy here I come!" Boy, was I wrong.

This movie made me re-evaluate my life. Hah. Yep. You read that right. It was sweet, it was charming, I can't believe dude (I don't remember actor's and actresses names just can recall their faces) actually played a serious role for once in his life. He's damn good at it.

Quick little overview:
Guy has a daughter and she wants him to tell her (in the midst of his divorce from her mom) HOW they fell in love... not just that they did and they lived happily ever after... but the whole story (previous girlfriends and all). So that's the story. He talks about the women who were previously in his life and his whole story of girls he dated, but makes it a mystery so his daughter can guess.

That's all I'm going to give you so it doesn't spoil it for you.

Anywho... this got me to thinking about MY exes and what impact they've made in my life. How they've continued to jump in and out of my life at any given moment (I should write a book). Yes, I've come back to guys and had relationships with them even after a break-up the first time. Crazy, I know.

So I logged on to my private journal (yep, I've got one of those, and believe me, it's been a savior at times) and wrote my relationship story... the history... did I love him, did I not... the key things I remembered about that relationship, etc. And I came to find that I don't really remember much about anything - because that's how I get over someone. I try to forget the good times and just remember why we broke up so I can amicably move on. Is that wrong?

I did have a boyfriend at one time who burned all of the things that he possessed that reminded him of me and tried to do the whole "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" thing and erase my memory. THAT was weird. But I've never really "erased" any of them... just gotten over any sort of attraction that was there.

Yeesh. That was a ridiculously deep moment. Probably not a good thing considering what time of the month it is. Ugh.

Shitacular Day

Let's talk about this. Today has been quite shitty thus far...and it's only 11:30 am.

- I woke up from a dream where a fat man kept hugging me and wouldn't let me go. It was annoying. And weird.
- I get up, get my shower, get ready... all that good stuff. And take Rae's dog out. (well, I kinda just let him out so he could go to the bathroom and then come back... I didn't actually walk him because I didn't have time)This lady starts honking her horn outside of my house because a little weiner dog is loose in my yard. My front door is open. I'm watching him. He's only in my yard. I don't see the problem here.
- I leave for the train station. I was walking there - but it's so freakin hot that I just drive the 1/2 mile there and back - not a big deal. There's a train at 10:15 (optimal for me to catch) and one at 10:30. If I don't catch the 10:30 one, I'm screwed and not going to make it on time for my class. I run up the stairs as the train is closing its doors. The operater looks straight at me and pulls away from the station. Yep. I missed it. Not a big deal... I'll just drive to school and pay the 6$ parking.
- I drive down the highway... a 55mph speed limit... a 14 lane highway... that everyone goes 80 on a normal day. Today it was 65. Even in the left lane. Irritating.
- I finally made it but reached into my purse to pull out some cash - to find none. I needed to find an ATM. So I pull out my GPS and type in for the nearest ATM. 2 miles away, sweet!
- I drive there. This particular location is now closed. FUCK. I had to drive another few miles to another ATM. All the ATM's in the city are walk-up with no parking. Kinda funny cause to park, you have to have some cash but to get some cash you have to be able to park. Ridiculous.
- I finally get some money and drive ALLLLLllllll the way back to school. I had to park on the 6th level. It's already 20 minutes into class at this point. I contemplate just not going but decided I need to.
- As I'm walking to class, the "red bull" car pulls up and asks me if I want a red bull.

Now let's talk about this. A red bull. I have only put such toxins in my body while it's mixed with Jager and in the form of a shot. I don't consume things with High Fructose Corn Syrup, anything "enriched", or anything hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated. It's bad for your body.

- As I stare at the ingredients of this red bull and think about my morning thus far... I say "fuck it" and pop the top... drinking about 1/4 of the can. I left it on the top of a trash can because I'm sure some homeless person is gonna want it later.

- I get to class... a whole 35 minutes late (thankfully someone else was just as late as I was and was walking in at the same time)... and find that we're doing some equation bullshit. That's just great.
- At the break, this guy who is in several of my classes turns around and says "how'd you do on the homework?" HOMEWORK? FUCK. What homework?? Ugh. So now i've gotta fill out this sheet and hope she'll accept it at the end of class.

Let's hope today gets somewhat better. It just has to. I get to see Lifehouse and Matt Nathanson tonight with Rae. Should be splendid. And then Michael comes back on Saturday. Huzzah!

(oh, and did I mention that I'm about to start my girl stuff for the week??)

Word Of Mouth

Ok, Ok... so I've been avoiding it even though Odette tagged me more than a week ago to do this whole Word of Mouth thing. Since you don't know where I live (sneaky, sneaky)... I think I'll give you reviews of something everyone can buy/read/see. Sounds fair to me!

1. Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella.
I will continue to sing praises of this book because it was ABSOLUTELY fabulous. I couldn't put the damn thing down. Basically, this girl wakes up in the hospital after a gruesome car accident and doesn't remember anything from the past 4 or 5 years. She has this gorgeous husband, huge house, rockin body, glamorous job - yet has no idea how she got there. The book takes you on the journey of her figuring out how she got to where she is today and does so beautifully.

2. The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes.
I have read several of her books and this one was the best yet. It tells the story from all different perspectives and is the epitome of chick-lit. Friends forever become not friends at all and not so good friends become even better ones. It's a pretty thick book, but a quick read.

3. Sex and the City. The movie
I absolutely LOVED this movie. It probably didn't help that we were drinking mini bottles of wine while watching Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte wrap up their lives that I followed on the TV for all those years. I suppose if you hadn't watched the series, you might not like the movie as much because certain things are "inside jokes" (if you will) that make it that much better.

4. Definitely, Maybe. The movie
I plan on buying it on my way home as a reward for this week of hell i've had to endure. I'll update you once I've seen it.

Holla! I tag Casey Murphy's Law and Letters from limbo!

Skool

Oh. My. God. I do believe this week we could consider "hell week". Yep. Hell week it is. I had a test last week that I studied 4 1/2 hours for.... FOUR AND A HALF HOURS... and ended up with a 78. How is that possible? I could make a 78 WITHOUT studying!

I had a test yesterday and two today. Sex and Society, Retailing, and Advertising. My FAVORITE subjects ever... with FABULOUS teachers... and oh-so-lovely content. Hah. Right. Blow me, slowly.

I'm so over school today and I have one test to go. Then I've got my wonderful step class (nice little workout, if you ask me) and then home to make this FABULOUS Potato and Onion Fritatta that I got from Vegetarian Times. MMMMMmmmmm.

I leave you with one last thing.... In honor of them coming to see me tomorrow night and Michael being far away at the moment... here's a fabulous video from lifehouse :) Enjoy!

We on Fi-ya!

This weekend was quite a good one. Carrie came in from Hawaii to see me on Thursday and I shipped Michael off to see his family in Dallas. We had a FABULOUS time out on Thursday night at a bar here in my city and then packed up to go to Florida for the weekend on Friday.

Some of her friends (whom I've also met and hung with a few times) met us there and we did a lot of awesome things. We went to bars and watched Sex and the City at the theater (with mini bottles of wine)... went to the beach, shopping, and hangin out. Overall, we just had a really good time.

We stayed at a friends house (well, a pretty distant friend that I haven't seen in years) who was going to be out of town for two weeks. Friday night, we decided to grab some things from the grocery store to make fajitas for dinner instead of going out. We got back to the house and I started chopping the peppers and onions and chicken (I know, i'm a good friend to make chicken even though I'm vegetarian) and cooking everything.

Apparently, the people that live there don't use the stove all that often, or if they do - they don't clean out the things underneath the eye of the stove and it was kinda caked on. This posed a problem for the cooking I was doing. There was some smoke, which I thought was odd because the things in the pan weren't burning - I was standing over it, stirring. As I lift up the pan, I see a flame UNDERNEATH the cooking eye.

Oh lord.

I pull everything off of the stove and call the girls in. As we're watching this flame grow, we're discussing what we're going to do about it. The flame is unreachable. This isn't my house. This could be devastating.

I grab a dry dish rag and start beating the flame with it. To no avail, the flame is still growing. We try "smothering" it with a lid from a pan but that didn't work either. We're all looking through the cabinets to find a fire extinguisher... about a minute later, we find one. The fire alarm is screaming at this point, we thought for sure the neighbors were on their way over and my friend was going to find out. One of the girls steps back... aims... and shoots the fire extinguisher at the flame - putting it out. (thank God!)

There was white dust all over the place, but thankfully no damage to any part of their house - and unless they somehow find this blog and can connect the dots to me - they're never gonna know. It was pretty scary.

So that was that. Saturday night, Carrie and I brought mini liquer bottles to the bar with us. Buy a soda for $1.50 and put our $1.50 shot in it... and there you go. A $3 drink. Huzzah. I usually drink Captain and Ginger with a little bit of lime (captain morgan rum, ginger ale, lime... delish) but they didn't have mini bottles of captain... so I bought another rum... bacardi gold, I think. Definitely not the same. I only got 2 bottles, so it wasn't that big of a deal. I drank part of a drink and was over it. I was going to leave the other bottle on the shelf for the taking - but a "security" guy came up to me and shook his finger in my face.

I laughed at him and handed him the bottle saying that it was gross anyway. I'm obviously not that stupid if I wanted to keep it, I would have been more stealth. I suppose they usually get the lushes who aren't so bright trying to do all of that. :) Carrie and I got a good laugh and moved on.

There were plenty of other stories from this weekend but those are the most interesting. We got a kick out of bringing the mini bottles of wine into the theater with us for our Sex and the City viewing and were all pretty giggly for the time being.

Freezing!

All I have to say is it's FRRRrrrrreeeezing in my classes. It's a nice 85 outside (weather you can dress to accomodate for) and when you do so.... it's 65 degrees inside. Unbelieveable!

Burr.

All this for just a snapshot!

My great grandmother lives a pretty sad life at the moment. She's 86? 87? I don't even know... and she is SO ready for Jesus to take her home. She'll tell you so every time you see her. About that, and her toes that hurt, her eyes, her hips, etc etc...

Today, I went to my grandparents for Father's Day (cause I love my grandpa!) and we all had lunch. They live up the street from my great grandma's so they can take care of her - so when I go up there, I try to stop by and see her.

She doesn't do anything all day except sit there and look out the window. She used to quilt but doesn't do that anymore because she says she can't see well enough. She used to have visitors and phone calls but now that she just complains all of the time, no one really wants to talk to her.

She's SO sweet... and I love her so incredibly much. I think it's sad that it's gotten to this point. Really.

Today, my mom and both sisters went to see her. We were looking through a photo album talking about the people in it and who they were - who they belonged to and some of the history behind it all. A nice little change of pace, to say the least.

Before we left, she insisted that she get a picture of all 4 of us because she had one picture left on her camera. The fiasco begins here :)

The light was too bright on this side of the room... and we couldn't stand in front of this window or that one. Then, once we got situated, she couldn't figure out how to work the flash. My mom suggested we go outside and forget about the flash altogether. We step outside and my great grandma doesn't think the spot we're in is right. So we move back towards this tree and that tree... "careful not to step in the ant hill there"... so we move to the other side in front of another tree... but there's the neighbor's house in the background. Then this and that until finally the space is right.

She's way too close to us so she complained that it'll cut off our heads so we should scrunch together. We told her to back up. She finally backs up and has everyone in the picture but then she can't use her right eye, she has to use her left one - then her fingers are in the way....

By this time, we're all CRACKING up because my great grandma couldn't take a picture if her life depended on it. haha. I haven't seen her laugh or smile like that in years. :) It actually made me a bit happy to make her laugh and see her so happy even if it were so brief.

I am dying to see how that picture turns out!!

More roommate woes

As promised... a good "what the fuck!?" story for ya. Yes, it's a true story... names have been changed, obviously, to protect the bitch. Well, to protect me from the bitch in this case, I suppose.

It all started when I needed someone to split the bills with me. Of course this is a common occurance with me because I don't think it's wise to spend a ton of money on rent and utilities when you can do things like travel and buy clothes. Anywhoo... horrible roommate left and I needed someone to pay the bills. I posted an ad on good ole craigslist and got a few responses. Some crazies, some that could have worked out, and then there was this one girl. She was alright. Had a steady job, said she kept pretty much to herself, all that good stuff. Pretty good criteria for a roommate if you ask me.

We'll call her bitch for all intents and purposes. She doesn't deserve the time it would take for me to dram up a suitable nickname.

She didn't like my current place because it only had one bathroom, but she offered to look for another place with me (my lease was up for renewal anyway) that we both would love. I was down for it. It was my last option... rent was about to get expensive. We looked for a place, found one, signed a lease... and were to move a month from then (this was back in March - so April 15th was move-day).

My intentions (after signing the lease) were to move in with the people I was babysitting for and live in their basement. Things didn't work out with that (I felt like their expectations were a bit high for just free rent with no pay) so I had to get out. Now, I admit, there was some shady stuff going on my part. I needed to get out of that lease (which I maintained that I was moving into the people's house I babysat for) so I asked bitch to find another roommate (or I could find one for her if she wanted) and they could take over June 1st. Simple, right?

Move-day came and went. I moved 90% of my things to storage and the rest into a room at the place I signed the lease. I have a house full of items... full living room stuff, kitchen, dining, washer and dryer, bathroom.... everything. She only had her room's worth of things. Let's just say she was a tad bit bitter that I wasn't moving my things into the new place for her to use. SO - out of the kindness of my heart (and because I didn't want to store these items any longer) I gave her 2 couches, 2 bookshelves, a tv, and an end table. For free.

Did I get a thank you? Nope.

A week later, I came home and one of the couches had been replaced with a fouton. Hmmm... where could it have gone? Her girlfriend's house. She was letting her "borrow" it or something. Whatever. (by the way, she is a lesbian in case you're wondering)

Apart from that, there were several things that she did to push my buttons. Let's take a look:

- she talked to our landlord about my breaking the lease before I had a chance to talk to the landlord about it. Complete no-no in friend-code books but apparently not to her. Isn't it my place to talk to the landlord about my part of the lease?
- she's ukrainian. her food smells. ridiculously.
- I wasn't supposed to have saffie at the house but did anyway - just for the month and a half I was there. She'd purposely have the landlord come to fix things just so i'd have to arrange to do something with her. Pain in my ass.

and a hand-ful of other things. Here's the best part.

[I know, I know, this is getting long, I'll try to wrap it up!]

I was taking a nap one day and woke up to the sound of people walking around in the house. They left and I went to my laptop on the one couch that was left to check my email. She came back and requested the pillows I was resting on. Ummm for what?

She SOLD the couches.

Yes, my friends... posted ads on craigslist and SOLD the couches that I gave to her because she needed them. Because she didn't have any. And she SOLD them. Now, this was only a week and a half before I was supposed to leave. She didn't even have the decency to wait until I'd left!!! Then when I was like "are you fucking kidding me?!" her response was "well, you gave them to me, so I can do whatever I want with them".

Wow!!

THEN she had the audacity to ask me to pay for the connection fees for the electric and gas (an extra 90$)... needless to say, I didn't pay it whatsoever.

Yep. Ridiculous roommate. Anyway - I'm living with Rae now... someone I've known for about 6 years now and who is also a dear friend of mine. Things are MUCH better in that arena but it was difficult to live with bitch, to say the least!

a little bit of this... a little bit of that...

It feels somewhat good to get back on here and talk about the things that are going on. It's overwhelming to have everything uprooted for a few months (chaos everywhere) and then plop yourself back down into a normal reality again. Eh, whatever.

I started school this week. Poor me, I know! Four classes this semester... 3 hours each class, twice a week... you do the math... 6 hours a day for 4 days of the week. It's not so bad. I get to do the following every day:

- wake up at 8:30 am
- walk to the transit train (it's only about a 10 min walk) 1/2 mile [this is the part where I get honked at most often]
- ride the transit train for 8 stops (about 25 minutes)
- walk another 1/2 mile to class
- scarf some food down in the 7 minutes between my two 3-hour classes of the day
- learn something (wooh!)
- walk 1/2 mile back to the transit train
- ride my 8 stops
- and walk home again - another 1/2 mile.

As you could imagine, I'm beat. Between the listening and the carrying a huge back pack around and all the walking (especially in the heat)... I'm over it :) But I'll continue to do it - because that's what I've gotta do. I could drive the 1/2 mile to the transit train but then my precious car would sit in the hot sun all day instead of in my carport. Hrm...

About these "job offers".... I knew I remained anonymous on this blog for a reason! You never know who your clients are and what they're going to be capable of. Now, there's no worry that they might stumble onto this blog and know it's me :)

I was offered a position from a client of my old company's to get their promotional products up and running. Apparently, what the guy chose before wasn't what the CEO had in mind and they'd seen my work at my company and thought I'd be perfect for the job. So I'm running this small project for them at a pretty steep contractor-esque price. Oh yes... it's gonna be good.

The other position is with a sister-company to the one I used to work for. It's about getting their offices up and running across the US. Since I already know everyone in my old company's offices across the US and this is where they want to open THEIR offices... this should be a breeze. Again, another part-time project manager position but I'm certainly up for the challenge.

Tonight, I've got a bunch of homework, some errands to run, some moving to finish up, and some work to do from client number 1. :)

A nice little update on Michael and I:
Things were rocky for a minute... well, for over a month they've been pretty crazy. Things are slightly settling down and getting back to some sort of normal state of affairs. (You can't have the PERFECT boyfriend 24/7!!) Last night, he came and hooked up my washer and dryer (and went to great lengths to do so) and followed that up with saying "I want to get a place with you someday..." :) Of course it didn't end there. His comments throughout the night meant that in his head - he was looking down the road for us. I asked him what he was thinking about that made him start talking about these things and his reply was "less than 3" (which is a heart, <3, an inside thing for us which means love...) and that meant so much to me (given our 'space' thing that's been going on).

So last night I stayed at his house (which wasn't planned, by the way) and this morning as we parted ways, those three words left his mouth as I was walking across the parking lot from his car to mine. It caught me off guard because it has certainly been a while since those words have landed on my ears from him. Sure, his actions show it more than any words could ever describe, but it's still nice to hear sometimes.

So that's that. I don't know what that means, but I do know that I'm really happy right now. About a lot of things. :) I do have a lot to catch you guys up on... crazy crazy roommate story (you'll die when you hear about what happened to me!) and stuff like that. So stay tuned!!

Back again!

Ok, ok, ok... I've been "gone" for a little while - much longer than I wanted to be. I've been moving (again) into a more permanent residence (hooray!) and without internet access because I left my job and the internet just was hooked up here.

Even before I left my job, I had to train the girl who was taking my place on everything I did there (really crazy) so I wasn't really able to put time into blogging as I wanted.

I did, however, accept a job offer (or two) with a client of the company I was with and I'm super excited about it. I have TONS to catch you guys up on and am so sorry for the delay.

But... I'm back again :)
