ATL mama....!!

This weekend was fan-tabulous in the ATL. I got to catch up with a lot of old friends, see some of the kids I used to nanny for, hang out with my family (saw my great gma!!), see a Braves pre-season game, and go on a date with Number 10. I had a blast… and happy birthday to me!

I wanted to write about something monumental – something that has a chuckle factor, or something that would be interesting to you, at least. But right now – none of that is. It was all just catching up.

Shenanigans ensued on Friday evening with Blaire and some other friends. We went out to our usual stomping grounds – just some new places. I didn’t go to the MF Room or to the Gold Club, which happen to be some newer “clubs” in town. There just wasn’t time or opportunity for it. I’m sure the same old ATL DB’s were out in full force and I was content spending time with the people I care about more.

I did see Michael Vick in the airport, getting on a plane to Tampa, so that was interesting. I also almost didn’t make my flight because they had to bump 4 people. They offered a sweet deal, too. Two free round trips anywhere AirTran flies, hotel for the night, and 3 meals. I would have taken them up on that offer had I not had a ridiculously important meeting at the oil and gas company on Monday. *sigh* If there’s anywhere to be “stuck,” Atlanta would be the best place.

Hotlanta

Next weekend, I'll be headed back to the great state of Georgia to enjoy catching up with many old friends. The schedule is jam packed and I can't wait for Easter/My Birthday.

It's going to be a LOT of fun. And I'll get to see Number 10 while I'm there, too. MMhmm. I get to hang with Blair and see some old coworkers. My little sisters and big bro are DEFINITELY on the list of those to hang with. I do miss them so.

So Happy Birthday to me next weekend. Can't wait for my trip there.

Actually, before that happens... might be able to hang with my missed connection (Number 9) on Sunday for the first time. I'll be STOKED if this actually happens. He has been traveling for work for the past few weeks. Silly!

Reviews of a new city. Part 3: San Diego

Ah... sunny San Diego... or not! Gotta love that there's better weather in my home town than in sunny San Diego, and I don't even live in a "beach state"!!! I doubt it got over 60 something degrees the whole time (a bit chilly for So Cal, don't you think!?) and it was overcast for the most part.

There are a few really cool places here, though. Carrie and I stayed in Oceanside with M. Moon and ended up going out in Carlsbad (eh, not the best place, but it worked) with aspirations to go into the city and go out in the Gaslight district. Since I was wearing a tiara for my birthday, everyone kept telling me happy birthday (or mistakenly telling me 'congratulations' on getting married... hahaha!) and were really nice.

Carrie and I ended up having some DELICIOUS pizza at Sammy's Woodfired Pizza. (it was sun dried tomatoes, pine nuts, goat cheese, etc. and was fabulous!!) Their shopping isn't too shabby, either. I got a pair of pants for myself and a shirt for Michael on sale at Banana. Yep, that's right!

Anyway, overall, the weather was crappy but the scene was alright. Everyone dresses the same around here... that "So Cal" look. There are a lot of military around because of all the bases near, so you've got a lot of that. Carrie was in heaven because that's her thing! (she's married to a marine, go figure!!)

"No Cell Phones, Please"

This weekend, I'm in San Diego with Carrie and M. Moon - we're going to Vegas for my bday celebration. Also this weekend, Michael is in Dallas with his family - going to an all men's church retreat.

I think I got the better end of that stick.

But it doesn't mean I don't miss him. In fact, I miss him terribly.

This morning, we talked for a few minutes when he was on his way to pick up his new car. The paper (from the church retreat) said "no cell phones" but he assured me he'd have it anyway. Wrong. He was told this morning that they're pretty serious about not having cell phones there. For obvious reasons that I certainly understand.

Doesn't mean I like it any better. I'll be in Vegas and San Diego living it up... and he won't be able to share it with me until Sunday. He's absolutely the sweetest thing to me - and I think he's incredible for it. But he said something last night that got me in the gut.

"Just know that you're taking a huge part of my heart with you"

*sigh* he's the best and I MISS HIM!

Spring is...

... warm weather.
... rain - and lots of it.
... Sunday afternoons laying on the couch with the windows and doors open.
... being able to rollerblade more at the park.
... My BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!
... St. Patty's and Easter (two holidays that are WAY too close together this year)
... capri pants and skirts (oh, I have a closet full)
... hiking, biking, camping, and all that fun outdoor stuff.
... (means) summer is on its way... and summer just happens to be my most favorite time of the year!
... that certain smell. I don't know what it is but it brings me back, way back.
... family time. (we've got 3 birthdays within a month of each other! Yikes!)

Spring is almost here!
Le ressort est presque ici!

Flushed

Today has been extremely long. I had to take Carrie to the airport this morning so she could go visit her husband in Hawaii (they're moving there. Jealous. I know.) from here. She was visiting me this weekend (yes, we had a splendid time).

So, this afternoon, face buried in the computer all day, my face started turning red. It was really for no apparent reason at all. I suppose I was anxious about getting it all done today (which, I'm still at work and it's 7:30. I arrived at 8:15 this morning).

And this blog post is so exemplary of my mindset right now. Scattered, not at all put together.

There are several birthdays this week... a kid I used to babysit. An old best friend. A guy I dated once. My old boss. I need to get some cards on the way home.

Ok, enough of the rambling. You might actually get something intelligent out of me at another time. Haha. Not now!
