As promised... a good "what the fuck!?" story for ya. Yes, it's a true story... names have been changed, obviously, to protect the bitch. Well, to protect me from the bitch in this case, I suppose.
It all started when I needed someone to split the bills with me. Of course this is a common occurance with me because I don't think it's wise to spend a ton of money on rent and utilities when you can do things like travel and buy clothes. Anywhoo...
horrible roommate left and I needed someone to pay the bills. I posted an ad on good ole craigslist and got a few responses. Some crazies, some that could have worked out, and then there was this one girl. She was alright. Had a steady job, said she kept pretty much to herself, all that good stuff. Pretty good criteria for a roommate if you ask me.
We'll call her bitch for all intents and purposes. She doesn't deserve the time it would take for me to dram up a suitable nickname.
She didn't like my current place because it only had one bathroom, but she offered to look for another place with me (my lease was up for renewal anyway) that we both would love. I was down for it. It was my last option... rent was about to get expensive. We looked for a place, found one, signed a lease... and were to move a month from then (this was back in March - so April 15th was move-day).
My intentions (after signing the lease) were to move in with the people I was babysitting for and live in their basement. Things didn't work out with that (I felt like their expectations were a bit high for just free rent with no pay) so I had to get out. Now, I admit, there was some shady stuff going on my part. I needed to get out of that lease (which I maintained that I was moving into the people's house I babysat for) so I asked bitch to find another roommate (or I could find one for her if she wanted) and they could take over June 1st. Simple, right?
Move-day came and went. I moved 90% of my things to storage and the rest into a room at the place I signed the lease. I have a house full of items... full living room stuff, kitchen, dining, washer and dryer, bathroom.... everything. She only had her room's worth of things. Let's just say she was a tad bit bitter that I wasn't moving my things into the new place for her to use. SO - out of the kindness of my heart (and because I didn't want to store these items any longer) I gave her 2 couches, 2 bookshelves, a tv, and an end table. For free.
Did I get a thank you? Nope.
A week later, I came home and one of the couches had been replaced with a fouton. Hmmm... where could it have gone? Her girlfriend's house. She was letting her "borrow" it or something. Whatever. (by the way, she is a lesbian in case you're wondering)
Apart from that, there were several things that she did to push my buttons. Let's take a look:
- she talked to our landlord about my breaking the lease before I had a chance to talk to the landlord about it. Complete no-no in friend-code books but apparently not to her. Isn't it my place to talk to the landlord about my part of the lease?
- she's ukrainian. her food smells. ridiculously.
- I wasn't supposed to have
saffie at the house but did anyway - just for the month and a half I was there. She'd purposely have the landlord come to fix things just so i'd have to arrange to do something with her. Pain in my ass.
and a hand-ful of other things. Here's the best part.
[I know, I know, this is getting long, I'll try to wrap it up!]
I was taking a nap one day and woke up to the sound of people walking around in the house. They left and I went to my laptop on the one couch that was left to check my email. She came back and requested the pillows I was resting on. Ummm for what?
She SOLD the couches.
Yes, my friends... posted ads on craigslist and SOLD the couches that I gave to her because she needed them. Because she didn't have any. And she SOLD them. Now, this was only a week and a half before I was supposed to leave. She didn't even have the decency to wait until I'd left!!! Then when I was like "are you fucking kidding me?!" her response was "well, you gave them to me, so I can do whatever I want with them".
Wow!!
THEN she had the audacity to ask me to pay for the connection fees for the electric and gas (an extra 90$)... needless to say, I didn't pay it whatsoever.
Yep. Ridiculous roommate. Anyway - I'm living with Rae now... someone I've known for about 6 years now and who is also a dear friend of mine. Things are MUCH better in that arena but it was difficult to live with bitch, to say the least!
