10 [Random] Things...

Oh what a day.

1. Last night, I lay awake until the weeeee hours of the morning. 4am in particular. I have SO many thoughts swirling in my head... to do's, to call's, more to do's, what-if's, you know, the usual. So my sleep pattern has been ridiculously flip-flopped and I can't seem to get a handle on it. For instance, I slept until 1 pm this afternoon. Yep. 1 pm. Fuck.

2. Once I got up, I got my things together and headed to the dealership. My car has been making this lovely screeching noise when it starts and it doesn't sound that great. Did I mention that my car hates Texas? Cause it does.

My Honda only has 60K on it, so these things shouldn't be happening, but thank God for the mysterious 100K PLATINUM extended warranty that happened to fall in my lap. Who knew you could get such a steal of a car without knowing it. I now have a rental car (paid by the warranty) and my car will be fixed without me shelling out a dime. This, my friends, is a blessing.

3. I barely made it to the drug test place today. It's Tuesday - and if I want to start this jobbie-job on Monday, I need that test to come back THIS WEEK. Normally, a 48 hour return time, but since it was so late in the day, it's gonna be 72 for me. Hopefully everything is done and I can start on Monday. Cross your fingers.

4. My lady friend who is supposed to be in town every single month has been quite a bitch lately. She didn't show up in November, stayed for two weeks in December, and just showed up for January. I don't know what she's doing, but I'm not happy about it. Bitch.

5. I started the "Fat Smash Diet" yesterday. It's actually NOT one of those "fad" diets where you starve yourself of essential nutrients - it's almost like being a vegan for a week, working out, and then slowly adding small portions of food back into your diet. It sucks. And I cheated today and had a tortilla. And I haven't made it to the gym yet. But, I really want to do it - just to say that I did.

6. My list of to-do's just keeps getting longer and longer and longer. And my will to take care of these things just keeps getting shorter and shorter and shorter. :)

7. I read Little Bitty Lies last week and I'm reading Savannah Breeze this week. Both really good books that I would recommend.

8. I'm working on some stuff for pre-research to my start at the new company. I'm going to have to find some clever name to call it on the blog, of course, for anonymity. First order of business.... a new website. ASAP, as he says.

9. I called the last pub I applied to today and asked where he was at in the process... he said to come in on Friday at 3 to interview. Hopefully I'll get that job and we'll be good to go. :) I'm ready to start making some money!!

10. Oh, I most certainly saved the best for last. This weekend, I went to see some friends at a random bar in the city. As I was there (a real eclectic place, might I add) there were two girls and a guy. The two girls were wearing exactly the same sleazy dress. Barely covered their ta-ta's and only halfway covered their undies, if there were any undies. One was sans shoes and the other had on hooker heels. As I watched them walk around, mostly looking a bit schwasted-face, I carried on the conversation with my friends.

All of a sudden I saw the one sans shoes come back by with a strip of toilet paper hanging from her rear.

Yes ma'am. Hanging from her buttocks.

The toilet paper was at least half a foot long, maybe longer. Perhaps her bitch had come to town this particular night as well and she was unprepared? Or maybe she was wiping and her thighs just stuck together (they were quite large) and held on to the paper? Or she could have just been trying to get the same attention she was getting wearing that dress? Who knows... but EVERYONE in the place was staring.

Normally, if said paper were stuck to the bottom of some girl's shoe (no matter how sleazy the shoe/outfit) I would make an effort to be a good person and help her out with the situation. But how awkward would THAT conversation be!?

Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to take a picture on the sly. So it'll have to just stay in my memory.

I'm bad, aren't I? Haha. It was hilarious though, you've gotta give me that!

Shenanigans...

We all know I drive fast. (I was even referred to as "Danika Patrick" last night, you know, the female race car driver?... anyway...) Last night was no exception.

Michael and I met up with some friends at a mexican restaurant in the city. Had a few drinks making it difficult not to visit the bathroom at least once. I waited until we were about to leave... went the the bathroom and then retrieved my car from the valet. We were on our way halfway across town and to have another drink at the bar watching Michael Phelps win his 6th gold medal. (hooray!)

Upon the realization I didn't have a cell phone anymore and it wasn't in the car... I remember putting it on the bathroom counter as I washed my hands and happened to leave it there.

On my drive back across the city to the mexican restaurant, I was incredibly distracted by anything and everything. Music, other cars, etc. and forgot how fast I'm driving.

Until I look in the rear view mirror and there's a cop back there.

Lovely.

He doesn't pull me over, but guaranteed he ran my tag. Of course he didn't find anything on there and didn't feel like pulling me over. I stop at the next light and he gets on his intercom:

"ma'am... speed limit on [road] is 35, mmmkay?"

I look over at him and say "Sure thing!"

Hahaha. It was definitely an experience. C'mon... I was in a hurry because the restaurant was about to close, I needed my cell phone, ANNNNnnnndddd.... there were pricks driving incredibly slow. :)

So there's my funny for the day. I'm gonna get in some real trouble one of these days. Hehe... until then...!

10 [random] Things...

1. I'm starting to roller blade again :) huzzah! (It's finally cooled off enough to where I can step out the door and sweat won't pour from my forehead)
2. School starts on Monday. Hrm.
3. I'm [hopefully] going to dinner tonight with a friend of mine. We haven't talked in forever and I haven't seen in her in even longer than that.
4. Someone opened their door into Michael's car... kinda like what happened to my car earlier this year. Inconsiderate people. Hrmph.
5. Matt Nathanson comes to town again soon, I bet Rae and I are going to see him again cause he's so fabulous!
6. I've discovered the music of Matthew Perryman Jones... and LOVE it!!
7. Yesterday was 6 months from Michael and my first date :)
8. I get to have lunch with my mom and my broham tomorrow. I haven't seen my brother in forever...
9. I had to get my car fixed... 3rd gear didn't like me, so they took apart the WHOLE transmission and rebuilt all 6 gears. Gotta love driving stick!
10. And, in the spirit of saving the best for last, I am proud to tell you that yesterday I booked TWO tickets to Hawaii for Labor Day weekend... Carrie is STOKED that we're coming to see her! Hooray for a mini-vacay with Michael to see my best friend!!! (My two favorite people in ONE place?!!) :)

Yes, officer...

Two months ago, I got a speeding ticket. Yah, yah... whatever. It was 81 in a 65 (and the speed limit sign changed about a mile down the road to 70, so I wouldn't have even been pulled over if that were the case) and I had my court case today.

For those of you who don't know me that well... know that I can pretty much talk my way out of anything. I've never been able to do this with police, however, but when I get to court, something always happens to where it gets thrown out. If the officer who wrote the citation doesn't show up, it gets thrown out and you go on your way like it never happened. I've used that tactic several times in my defense. I've gotten in a fender bender at the time I was supposed to be in court - which threw it out as well. I went to court on the day they assigned, which happened to be the incorrect day - which threw it out. Overall, I'm pretty smart about the traffic system and know how to manipulate it in my favor.

So, today was fate day. I had this speeding ticket. I didn't know how much they were going to charge me because (let's make this problem number 1) the phone number posted on my ticket was a disconnected number. So I did a little research online to find the city I was pulled over in and was supposed to appear in court to... to find (problem number 2) THREE other phone numbers that were either incorrect or disconnected. I finally found a number that worked... but (problem number 3) they were closed for the day and there's no answering service. You have to call during business hours.

This morning, I plugged the address I found online in my GPS (problem number 4)... apparently the building no longer exists there and it's across the street and around the corner. Had I not been the intelligent person that I am... I would have never found it. I walk through the building and get that "look" from all three of the deputies running the metal detectors (problem number 5). They were flirting with me and wanted to "make sure" I got to where I needed to go alright. Hah!

I walk over to the line where everyone is grabbing their tickets, etc. and get handed a number on a piece of paper. Apparently, this is my number in line. (problem, well, funny thing number 6) The number is 69. Haha. (maybe I'm the only one who thinks that's funny... or somewhat a cap on things that have happened thus far)

I ended up talking to the solicitor and getting the speed reduced to 79 in a 65 (only 14 over) so it wouldn't go on my driving record. I paid the fine and left... on my way to school and other things. :)

That, my friends, is how you keep a clean driving record. COUNTLESS tickets have been handed to me... yet the slate is still clean. Gotta love this court system!!

Oh the things people do that amaze you

I've seen some weird things in my day... but things just keep getting weirder and weirder around here. I've been very discreet and mysterious about where it is I actually live (and other details as to who I am) obviously for a reason. This one just might give it away, though! Haha.

Last night, Michael and I were driving to Six Flags to meet up with some friends. We took a random route that my gps so kindly gave to me - all these back roads through the city to get around the horrendous traffic. We went through uber-rich neighborhoods as well as some 'not so nice' neighborhoods. At a cross section where a lot of cars were stopped... I looked to my left and saw the most redneck thing I've seen in a while.

Apparently this particular couple just purchased a go-kart dune buggy type thing. Your everyday average person would find a friend with a truck to go pick it up. Oh no, my friends, they tied it to the back WINDSHIELD of their late 1990's Thunderbird to get it home. HILARIOUS!

Michael and I cracked up for the longest about it.

This morning, when I was driving home from his house, I was sitting next to a gold-ish Nissan Maxima who kept inching forward at the light (hello! It's not going to change any quicker!) so I glanced over there. I shit you not... on the dash of the Maxima was a replica of THAT maxima sitting in a display box.

Yes... ON the dash of this MAXIMA... there was a REPLICA of their car. Ok, ok... let's back up a second. A Maxima is a great car to drive. It's got 4 doors, a little bit of horsepower, and they look alright, too. It's no lamborghini... or porsche... or bentley... or benz... It's a freakin 28,000 dollar Maxima. (in gold, nonetheless)

I could see if you loved your car that much, maybe getting a replica for your bedroom nightstand so you could smooch it before you went to bed at night. (hahah, yah right!) but not ON the DASH while you're driving it!

Some people just crack me up. I must say, I laughed really hard at this one!!

Inconsiderate People

Michael and I had a lot of errands to run this weekend. He's car shopping, we both have girls night/guy night planned with our friends, cleaning, target, etc. etc... busy busy busy.

Saturday morning comes along and we hop in my car... go to Panera to get something to eat and then on to Target... over to my house and then to the dealership to look at some cars. We got to my house (I had to run in and get my coat because it was snowing) and I came back out. Michael looked at me and told me he had to show me something.

Exhibit A.

Oh yes. While we were at Target, someone decided to slam their lovely WHITE car door into my brand new BLACK car. It may look small, but that little sucker is about 3 inches long and really deep.

Here's my beauty...

And now some inconsiderate asshole has dented her. Funny, because I make sure I avoid tight parking spots, etc. so that kind of thing doesn't happen to me. I parked in the clear - a few spots towards the back and someone still got it.

The one thing in this world I dispise is ignorance. It's completely ridiculous that people can be that inconsiderate and disrespectful of others' property. I pay a lot of money for that car - you can't imagine how angered I was/am.

It was kinda funny when Michael told me about it because he was really cautious when he did... but not really that funny because my precious car was dented. Good for him, having to deal with my anger - haha - at least he did it in the right way. Makes me like him even more :)

Oh, it most certainly happens in real life...

A few mornings ago, I splurged (on my "diet", that is) and went for a bagel at Einstein's on 14th street. A rare place for me to be on a working morning, but that's not the subject at hand ;)

Apparently, the night before it had rained a little so there were a few puddles around. In the farthest right hand lane, I was passing a few other cars to catch the light when I slammed through a puddle.

It wouldn't have been all that bad if there weren't three ladies walking to the train station on their way to work... on my account all three became soaking wet.

Yah... I thought that kind of thing only happened in movies. Oh, it most certainly happens in real life. And I felt terrible. What was even worse, I got stopped at the light and it felt like everyone was looking at me. I'm not quite sure I could have done anything at that point anyway.

I felt so bad. And while the picture isn't exactly of my little incident... it does represent what happened extremely well :)

10 Things that happened to me today.

1. My brother totalled his brand new Infiniti G35 Coupe. It was a thing of beauty, too. I felt bad for him.
2. My roommate brought home some people in the wee hours of the morning. (2 girls, 1 guy) One of which was puking her brains out. Literally.
3. I wrote a letter to my neighbor (we have a shared wall) who doesn't know what it means to have respect for neighbors and not blast her rap music and she placed it on top of our trash can. I laughed. Next time it'll be the po-lice. Biatch!
4. A friend of "ours" is MIA. He hasn't logged in to his myspace account since December 23rd and his best friend (with whom he is usually attached at the hip) hasn't heard from him since then either. I hope he's alright.
5. I bought a new camera today. I did tons of research before trodding to the store with my top two choices in hand. When I got home, I looked it up - $30 less online from the same store. I'll gather my refund tomorrow.
6. My mother is making a quilt for me. Full of all of my high school band and guard t-shirts. I got to see the pieces of it today. It's going to look fab.
7. I got a phone call in the middle of a movie. I silenced it. A few seconds later a text came through saying "Call me!!!".... so I did. There wasn't an emergency.
8. I got a mani/pedi today. It was refreshing.
9. I talked to a few people I hadn't talked to in a while today. I think i've decided what i'm going to do for New Year's. Being that it's tomorrow night and all...
10. I slept until 1. Hmm.

Honda made me smile...

Ah... where to begin?

I drove a 1999 Honda Accord for quite some time (3 years, actually... my longest track record for driving one car!) until the transmission was shot and I had to get a new one.

LOOOONNNNGGGG story short, the transmission failed about three hours after I took it to get an oil change. Smell fishy? Yep. That's what I thought, too. So, I took it to get diagnostics at another dealership and decided to buy a new car (LOVE my new car!) the same day.

Months later, after the anger subsided, my grandfather and I approached the Service Manager at Honda and explained the situation to him. He offered some assistance from Honda (thank God!) and told me he'd tell me how much once he got the car there and was able to check it out.

So... final word came back yesterday... and they're going to provide the parts, all I have to do is pay for the labor. That's only about 700 bucks total. (instead of $3000 for the whole job) Needless to say, I'm one happy camper. Now I can sell that car and lower my new car payments. Isn't life lovely!?!

Oh yes. Honda DEFINITELY made me smile :)
